![]() ![]() ![]() The Odyssey has earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+, the highest honor ever bestowed upon a minivan. For safety, Honda also claims to offer the most LATCH child seat positions of any vehicle - a total of five to easily allow four child seats of any design. Feature-wise, the Odyssey is the first minivan to offer an all-digital entertainment system with a high-resolution HDMI input to keep it compatible with modern electronics. The Odyssey remains one of the sportiest-driving minivans available - especially with respect to handling. The Odyssey's 3-mode second-row seat is also a standout in its class, able to fold, widen for passenger comfort, or become narrower for easier access to the third row. ![]() The 2022 Odyssey stands out from the pack by offering an especially thoughtful, versatile interior layout and stylish design. And to those people, I feel sorry for you. It’s such an archetypal minivan, from the long exterior to the spacious interior - it’s really an acquired taste that some will never have the chance to truly understand. I think I always will and it’ll always hold a special place - past models and present ones - in my heart. When it comes down to it, I love the Honda Odyssey. The Odyssey falls somewhere in between it has a starting price of $43,605 for the base trim, and runs all way to $54,805 for the base Touring model.Īs much as I love Honda and my 2014 Odyssey, I would also gladly trade mine (duh) for either one of the top-trim models of the Sienna, 2022 Odyssey, Carnival, or Pacifica, in that specific order the Odyssey would be first if it was a hybrid. You can get a Carnival for under $40k, which is basically a steal for a minivan. The Pacifica Pinnacle can run you well over $60,000 price-wise, it’s a luxury minivan, if there was ever a thing. However, if you’re going to place two large car seats on the ends, it makes it extremely difficult for anyone else to get into the third row - the easiest way to get to the third row was through the trunk. ![]() All three of my car seats comfortably fit into the second row, side-by-side. There’s a bunch of different combinations to manage up to six passengers in the back. The 2022 has almost the same options for the two back rows as my 2014 did. It’s got some cool new features like CabinWatch and CabinTalk: a little camera placed on the interior roof allows you to check up on your passengers from the infotainment screen, as well as speak loudly and clearly with the third-row passengers. Yes, obviously it drives better than my clunky and heavy 2014, but it also drives way better than some of the full-size SUVs I’ve recently driven, including the Honda Passport, as well as the big three-row monsters like the GMC Yukon - both great cars, but neither compares to the Odyssey’s smooth drive. However, tech aside, it was the drive that had me most surprised. ![]()
